Event History
Since 2014, The Gateway International Painting Competition has served to promote artists through an online monthly and annual juried painting competition at PaintingContest.Org. Open to artists world wide over 18 years old. Cash prizes awarded each month to Best in Show winners in 3 categories: Representational Professional, Abstract Professional, and Novice/For the Love of Painting. All traditional painting media is accepted including but not limited to oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, ink, and mixed media. Up to 16 BEST IN SHOW and FINALIST winners are announced the month following the close of the monthly competition, after the 20th day. Additionally, Award Certificates are available for download and printing anywhere in the world. Best in Show and Finalists from all months of the competition contend for annual Grand Awards.
What Makes this event different?
Exhibition of artists' paintings in popular social media networks such as Pinterest and freedom to the artist to sell and keep 100% of their own sales during display of their work at PaintingContest.Org. In Pinterest, artists' paintings are viewed and shared exponentially over time. The goal: to attract potential collectors and buyers during and after the monthly competition.

Artists keep 100% rights to their work, ALWAYS. Artists may offer paintings or print reproductions for sale directly from their entry pages at PaintingContest.Org and keep 100% of their sale (no commission ever!).

The Gateway International Painting Competition is an online monthly and annual juried painting competition at www.PaintingContest.Org. This competition is open to all artists worldwide who are over 18 years old. Up to 18 Finalists are selected each month from among 3 categories: up to 6 from Representational Professional, up to 6 from Abstract Professional, and up to 6 from Novice/For the Love of Painting. Cash prizes are awarded to the Best in Show winners from each of these 3 categories; Award Certificates and free promoted painting entries are awarded to all Best in Show and Finalist winners.
All traditional painting media is accepted including but not limited to oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil, ink, and mixed media. Art professional judges provide written commentary for each Best in Show painting.
Membership in the Gateway International Painting Competition is good for one year ($25 for new members, $15 for renewals). New artists can REGISTER HERE. Monthly Finalists and Best in Show winners are announced any time after the 20th of the month following the month of the competition. This gives the judges time to make their selections and write their critiques. Finalists from all months of the competition contend for Annual Grand Prizes awarded in August. The goal of this painting competition is fundraising (entry fees) to provide art kits for students who have limited access to art supplies and/or art education. See the Prospectus here:

Monthly Competitions: Opens at 12:01 am the first day of each month and closes at 11:59 Arizona USA time on the last day of each month. Each painting is date stamped for the record of entry. All Finalist paintings from monthly competitions are entered into the annual competition, running from August 1st to July 31st.
